The answer varies depending on the artist, size of your wedding party, location and number of services you need. But understanding what goes into bridal beauty prices can make comparing options much easier.
Here is what to expect when budgeting for wedding hair and makeup in San Diego.
What does bridal hair and makeup typically cost in San Diego?
Are you hiring an independent artist, beauty team or a luxury bridal company? Let's take a look about what is included. Some companies price hair and makeup separately, some offer packages. Trial, bridal previews, additional artists, early start times, parking, touch ups, extensions and lashes may also be separate charges. Additionally, some companies charge service fees and it can add up quickly.
At Coastline Bridal, our current bridal pricing is straightforward.
Bride Hair - $225
Bride Makeup - $225
Bride Hair + Makeup - $450
Wedding party and guest services are $150 per hair or makeup services.
Our services are performed on location so our artists come directly to your getting ready location rather than making you and your wedding party travel to a salon.
Why does bridal hair and makeup cost so much?
Bridal services involve so much more than applying makeup or styling hair.
Your bridal artist is working with a specific wedding day timeline, creating a look designed to photograph well, and last for many many hours. We travel to your location and coordinate with other artists and vendors to make sure everything runs smoothly.
A great bridal beauty experience should feel relaxed because we set the tone for your entire day.
What about the bridal preview?
A bridal preview (or trial) is an opportunity to work with your artist before your wedding to see how your hair and makeup will come together. We can work out any adjustments and get to know you. You'll know exactly what to expect before the wedding.
Bridal previews are optional but HIGHLY recommended.
Our current preview pricing is the same as day of services:

Bridal Hair + Makeup Preview - $450
How much should I budget for my wedding party?
This is where the overall beauty budget can change significantly. For example, a bride receiving hair and makeup services plus 3 bridesmaids receiving hair and makeup would look like:
Bride Hair + Makeup - $450
3 Guest Hair + Makeup - $900
Service total: $1,350
Travel fees would be additional based on your location. Other fees may apply if we add a blowout or someone has extensions.
At Coastline Bridal, we create a beauty timeline base on your ready by time, number of services and wedding day logistics. You shouldn't have to figure out the timeline or how many artists you need, that's our job.
What other costs should I ask about?
When comparing companies, ask about more than the advertised service price. Depending on the company and your wedding, additional costs include travel, early start fees, parking/valet, holiday fees, extension styling, blow drying, touch ups, additional artists of minimum service requirements.
It's also worth asking about gratuity. Some bridal companies automatically add gratuity to the contract while others leave it optional.
Coastline bridal does not add or require gratuity. It is completely at your discretion.
We believe pricing should be clear before you book so there aren't any unexpected costs showing up right before your wedding.
Does my wedding location affect the price?
It can.
San Diego wedding cover a surprisingly large area. A wedding in downtown San Diego or Coronado has very different travel logistics than one in Carlsbad or Temecula.
On location beauty companies may calculate travel based on distance, location, number of artists traveling, or a combination of these factors.
Parking and valet costs can also matter, particularly at resorts or hotels.
Before signing a contract, make sure you understand how travel is calculated to your specific getting ready location.
How early should I book bridal hair and makeup?
Popular wedding dates, particularly Saturdays during busy season or long holiday weekends, can book well in advance.
If hair and makeup is important to you, it's worth reaching out once you have your wedding date and venue booked, even if you. havent finalized how many people will want services.
At Coastline Bridal, all we need is a $450 retainer and signed contract to book.
If your wedding is approaching sooner than you thought, reach out as soon as possible so we can check availability! Saturday weddings have a four service minimum while smaller weddings and elopements or bride only bookings may be available depending on the date.
What should I look for when comparing bridal beauty companies?
Portfolio and pricing matter but theyre only part of that decision.
Look for a company whose work fels like you, but also pay attention to the experience surrounding the service. Is communication clear? Is pricing transparent? Will someone create a beauty timeline? What happens if an artist becomes unavailable? Do you understand the contract terms? an they work with a wedding your size?
Your hair and makeup team will be among the first vendors you meet on your wedding day and the vendors you will spend the most time with. Talent matters but so does professionalism, reliability, organization, and the energy they bring into the room.
